If you experience high levels of anxiety in the dental chair, you are not alone. We strive to ensure that you feel calm and comfortable during your visits from start to finish; that’s why we offer comprehensive sedation dentistry.
What is Sedation Dentistry?
Sedation dentistry is used to ensure that patients are as relaxed and comfortable as possible during their time in the dental chair.
Despite common misconceptions, sedation dentistry does not put you completely to sleep; it simply uses medication to relax your body and keep your treatment pain-free.
Types of Sedation Dentistry
We offer two types of sedation dentistry to help you feel more at ease in the dental chair:
- Nitrous Oxide: Commonly known as “laughing gas”, nitrous oxide is administered through a sedation face mask and takes effect quickly. This sedation method is highly favored for the treatment of both adults and children. The effects wear off immediately after the mask is removed.
- Oral Sedation: Oral sedation is administered in pill form. Patients may feel a bit drowsy, but they will remain fully conscious. Patients will need someone to accompany them to and from their appointment.
