Dental implants are an excellent option for replacing missing teeth. We want you to look and feel your best, and if you have missing teeth, the look, feel and function of your teeth might not be ideal. Dental implants can improve your ability to chew as well as fill in gaps you may be self-conscious of.
What are Dental Implants?
Dental implants are durable titanium devices that are placed inside the jaw bone to replace the roots of a missing natural tooth.
Below are the 3 types of dental implants:
- Single Tooth Implant: First an implant is placed into the jaw. Then over the top of the implant, an implant crown is permanently cemented or screwed in to close the gap in your smile.
- Implant-Supported Bridge: To replace multiple missing teeth that are adjacent to each other, two “anchor” implants are placed inside the jaw bone. Over the top of the anchor implants, an implant bridge is then cemented or screw retained to close the gap in your smile.
- Implant-Supported Denture: To replace an entire arch of missing teeth, four or more implants are placed inside the jaw. An implant denture is then clipped securely into place over the implants, restoring the entire arch of teeth with one treatment.
Benefits of Dental Implants
- Bone loss prevention
- Easy to care for; no special care required
- Improved confidence and self-esteem
- No special diet required
Altogether, a dental implant provides a long-lasting, sturdy, and natural-looking solution that is almost impossible to discern from the natural teeth with the naked eye. Many dental professionals agree that implants are the best way to mimic both the functionality and looks of a missing tooth.
